State Hunting Laws for ATV and UTV Users

ATV ready for hunting, by jwinfrid, FlickrIt’s that time of year again. As hunting seasons open, it’s a good idea to refresh our memories with a few common sense guidelines and state regulations regarding ATVs and hunting.

Keep Your ATV Tires On The Trail

Most hunters understand the need for conservation and treat the land appropriately. However, when the adrenaline starts pumping when lining up the shot, sometimes it can have an effect on our better judgment.

Remember every time you go off the trail, your ATV tires leave signs of use behind, making it easier for the next hunter to do the same. The cumulative effect can definitely do some damage.

Do Not Shoot From Your ATV

Shooting from your ATV or UTV is just not a good idea. Not only is it not safe, in most states, its illegal, and can cost you a sizable fine.

Park Your ATV safely

Park your ATV at a spot where other riders can get around you. Be aware of blind spots to prevent your ATV from getting hit by another rider.

ATV Hunting Laws

Take a few minutes to review your state’s rules and regulations on ATVs and hunting. Even if you feel you are aware of your state’s laws, it’s a good idea to check – sometimes they change, even during hunting season. When travelling out of state, remember the law can vary from state to state.
